Man Eater Maoists of Orissa

The left movement on Maoist line of communism that started in Naxalwari was meant to protect the rights of tribals and peasantry. But in course of time, as it seems, the basic objectives have become secondary as the present Maoist leadership has turned reactive and violent to the down trodden communities whose protection is their motto.

‘Maoists of Orissa have turned Man-Eaters. We are afraid of them.’ The statements given by the villagers of Chandigud of Malkangiri district in the public relation camp organised by police have shocked the administration.

As per people, Maoist commander Bhagat and his group members kidnapped Mukunda Madhi of Chandigud on August 3, 2007. The very next day they came to the village with Mukunda Padhi and Killed Mukunda brutally. Bhagat ate the flesh of Mukunda.

The incident was so shocking and terrifying that people of the village couldn’t dare to tell the truth to police during inquiry. Everybody, including Mukunda’s family members, told police that Mukunda visited his relation’s house.

It’s suspected that Bhagat did all these as per the instruction came from the central leaders. Maoists suspected Mukunda as a police informer and had informed about Maoist leader Sriramalu Srinivas.

The statements of Chandigud villagers have not surprised the administration but shocked everyone including the Maoist sympathisers.

The left movement on Maoist line of communism that started in Naxalwari was meant to protect the rights of tribals and peasantry. But in course of time, as it seems, the basic objectives have become secondary as the present Maoist leadership has turned reactive and violent to the down trodden communities whose protection is their motto.

As per the villagers, few years back the Naxalites were very much friendly to them and were fighting for them. But now they are acting like organised criminals.

This revelation has shocked the ideological sympathisers of the state who do not find any reason behind such a heinous act that clearly goes against Marxist ideology and Maoist interpretation of Marxist communism.
